What better reason to celebrate the opening of the much anticipated Newport Community Hub than with community day in the heart of Newport.
Mayor of Hobsons Bay Councillor Peter Hemphill said the $9.3 million hub, which will be home to the Newport Library, maternal and child health services, youth services, senior citizens programs, ethnic seniors activities and facilities for musicians and drama groups, will officially open on Friday 2 September.
Once those doors are open, we invite the community to make it a home away from home, a place to meet and make friends, to enjoy innovative programs and to learn plenty, said Cr Hemphill.
The hub will be a place to inspire, create and connect with a music studio and creative technology programs setting it apart from our other community centres in Hobsons Bay.
It will also be unique given the diversity in users all sharing the one space and our hope is that it feels like a home away from home for the many groups, individuals and families that come to use the hub.
