Ninety-five community organisations and projects will share in more than $193,000 after Hobsons Bay City Council approved the 2017 Community Grants Program.

Mayor of Hobsons Bay Councillor Peter Hemphill said Council received 116 applications for the Community Grants program across the four categories, with $193,440 allocated towards community projects that will enhance and strengthen the local community.

The successful applicants provide activities and programs with a strong focus on developing our local community and that is what these grants are all about,said Cr Hemphill.

Areas like raising Indigenous awareness, encouraging female participation in sport, introducing disability access, supporting newly arrived communities, health workshops, cultural activities, water safety programs, volunteer initiatives and activities for young people and seniors.
