Mayor of Hobsons Bay Councillor Peter Hemphill said the Mason Street facility, which was due to be opened in September, was named with help from the local community.
Council received 29 suggestions from the community for names for the building, with the three finalists being Newport Hub, Newport Community Hub and Newport Community Junction, said Cr Hemphill.
