Hobsons Bay welcomes comments made in State Parliament this week by Wade Noonan MP, Member for Williamstown and Bernie Finn MP, State Member of Parliament for Western Metropolitan Region in support of the Council with regards to the Code of Conduct matter.
Despite recent media reports we would like to reassure our community that the tenure of Hobsons Bay City Council is not in jeopardy, Mayor Cr Peter Hemphill said.
A Bill has been introduced this week to remove the risk of non-compliance, and reinforcing that Councillors will have the opportunity to comply with the legislation around the Code of Conduct following the upcoming Council elections.
Our Councillors are 100 per cent committed to the application of the Code of Conduct. The error for which we were taken to task was purely administrative.
