Armstrong Reserve in Newport will be opened very soon – probably when Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions are eased by the State Government.
The reserve, off Wilkins St, between Latrobe and Crawford streets, is looking like one of the smartest community areas we have in Hobsons Bay.
I love the pelicans perched on the poles. They almost look real.
One of the big features is a full-size basketball/netball court.
After strong support from local residents, the Council opted for a full-size court, rather than a half court.
That gives plenty of space for kids to practice either game or toddlers to cycle their three-wheelers around during the day.
The reserve also has plenty of play spaces and a sheltered picnic area.
A big “thank you” to all the local residents who gave the council guidance on what should be included in the reserve.
