I am now Hobsons Bay City Council’s longest serving councillor after being sworn in on Thursday, following the declaration of the poll that day.

I was elected to the council in a tight battle for Strand Ward, along with Jonathon Marsden and Pamela Sutton-Legaud, from 12 candidates that stood for three positions.

It was my seventh successive council victory, spanning more than 21 years on the council after first being elected with Angela Altair on March 16, 1999.

Angela decided not to stand this year and I congratulate her for a huge commitment to local government, not just locally, but in the wider realm of the state through representation on the Municipal Association of Victoria.

Over the next four years, I look forward to working with Jonathon and Pamela, but also Tony Briffa, Daria Kellander, Matt Tyler and Diana Grima, who were elected in Cherry Lake Ward and Wetlands Ward.
